Apples, Apples, Apples!

Fall is here and 6C is enjoying our many apple activities! Our daily message tells us what exciting  things will be happening.

First, we graphed our apples by color.

We measured our apples using unifix cubes.
Next, we compared apples to see who had the largest. It was a tie between four of us!

We sampled our own apples and shared with our team members at our tables.

We used our five senses to generate words that described our apples.
Then we illustrated our apples and wrote describing words in a sentence for a class book.

We cut up our apples into small pieces to cook.

We added sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and water.

Cooked our colorful apples for about 1/2 hour......

and ate our hot cooked apples!

Stay tuned for more apple activities next week!

Summer Reading Fun!

On Friday, we read "A Birthday For Bear", our summer reading selection. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing the story again, and celebrating Bear's birthday with him. With partners, we discussed our favorite ways to celebrate our own birthdays, and completed a sentence along with an illustration of some of our favorite birthday fun. During math we graphed our class birthdays. Cupcakes with gummy bears were a special treat at snack time, and balloons were a special surprise at the end of the day. What a celebration!

I thought you might enjoy a few more photos of our first few days in school!
